"Do Not Revile my Companions" by Mahmood Muhammad Shakir [A Refutation of Sayyid Qutb]
Allaamah Mahmood Shakir documents ten instances in total of Sayyid Qutb's attacks upon four of the Companions, Mu'awiyah, his parents, Abu Sufyan and Hind, and also Amr bin al-Aas (radiallaahu anhum), as well as the Bani Umayyah in general. We have documented some of these statements previously.
He quotes the saying of Qutb regarding Mu'aawiyah:
As for Mu'awiyah after Alee, then the politics of wealth took its course in which there was the absence of (any) moral component, and so he (Mu'awiyah) turned it into bribes, pastimes, selling of debt liabilities (securities) through the bai'ah (pledge of allegiance) for Yazeed and whatever resembles these objectives [all] alongside the natural needs of the state, the troops and victories (i.e. needs arising through expansion of lands).
He quotes what Qutb said about Mu'awiyah's mother, Hind, after he spoke about Abu Sufyan (see here):
Then he (Qutb) says about Hind bin Utbah, the mother of Mu'awiyah:
That is Abu Mu'awiyah (i.e. Abu Sufyan), as for his mother Hind bin Utbah, then she is that one who stood on the day of Uhud, flowing in blood, tearing Hamzah's liver to pieces like a wild lioness, the right of revenge against Hamzah did not intercede for her in his vile act, for he had already died. And she is the one who stood with hatred, after the Islam of her husband (Abu Sufyan), after the domination of Islam was established, shouting, "Kill this dirty khabeeth in which there is no goodness, a shame upon the avant-garde of the people, if only you had fought and defended yourselves and your land?"
As we have covered in previous articles in this series Qutb considers the parents to have accepted Islam upon a cliff-edge, right after Islam became dominant, and he considered them enemies of Islam and the Muslims, always hoping for tribulation for the Muslims and being at the forefront of it, whenever the chance for tribulation arose.
Mahmood Shakir quotes the saying of Qutb regarding Bani Umayyah in general:
Then he (Qutb) said, regarding all of Bani Umayyah:
This is the Islam, despite the criticism upon its very first practical steps due to the domination of a family whose souls had not been occupied by the spirit of Islaam, and which believed only on a cliff-edge when Islam became dominant, and they began to dream of inherited biting kingship (rule), until they obtained it, and thus the affair took a course that Islam does not know of.
And these attacks upon these Companions and also upon Uthmaan (radiallaahu anhu) are not mere slips of the tongue, for it is possible that a Scholar make a slip of the tongue in the manner of his speech regarding a companion without holding any malice. With Qutb, we see this malice, the expression of which is not a slip of the tongue, rather it is a doctrinal, ideological belief held by Qutb as we shall prove in a subsequent article in this series.
So the Qutbiyyah are intellectual fraudsters and they are the Ghullaat ul-Murji'ah who expel the actions of the heart from eemaan, as is clear from their behaviour.
